Miss Ligonier since 1958
With its roots established in selecting a Ligonier Bicentennial Queen to welcome President Eisenhower to town in 1958, the first Miss Ligonier Pageant was then held four years later in 1962. Every year since, we have crowned a new Miss Ligonier in the fall, as she and her court reign over Fort Ligonier Days and serve as ambassadors on behalf of the Ligonier Valley. Over the years, Miss Ligonier has become a participant in other community events including the children’s Halloween Parade, welcoming Santa Claus to town and our annual Ice Fest celebration.
The tradition remains strong and a unique sisterhood exists among those that have held the title. In fact, a few times, actual sisters have passed this custom along within their own families! Miss Ligonier and her court are active volunteers within their school and community, excel academically, love the Ligonier Valley and are examples of Rotary’s motto, “Service above self.”
